"Then think how much more pleasant it will be to hold me when we are less chilled!"

Less exposed to the elements, and at less risk of being discovered. Edoras is not quiet this night, for the celebrations are not limited to the Great Hall. Eowyn has no mind to let anyone interrupt them.

But the armory is not far, and she has the household keys to hand on her belt, with that included. In younger days she would sneak to the armory to practice her swordplay, learn how to care for armor, to undertake all a warrior's tasks and skills. It is several months since she has set foot in it now.

There are no windows, and the lanterns are out, but it is a small matter to find a flint and make a little light, the better to see her beloved's face. There are chairs and tables here as well as weaponry; they will be comfortable enough.

And warmer, out of the wind, and above all private. She closes the door and locks it again behind her before turning back to him, sighing in relief. "I have little patience for all this cermony," she admits. "Did the nobility of our countries really demand so much?"

"I am endeavouring to do so!" He laughs. "But my lady is most distracting!"

But he follows and waits patiently for her to light the lantern, coming forward to kiss her again once the door is securely fastened.

"I wish it did not, but your brother is a new king, who needs must demonstrate strength to his allies - not Aragorn, who he knows and who knows and honors him, but those who come with him, who he does not know. And Aragorn likewise in the opposite way. That, and ... well. I think everyone just wants to celebrate, really."

"Or perhaps you are too easily beguiled, my lord!" she chides in return.

Though she is as easily beguiled and distracted, given how willingly she returns to his arms as soon as there is a little light and a closed door between them and the rest of the world. She should light a few more lanterns for them, and she will. In a moment.

"I do not begrudge them their celebration. Only our part in it." She turns her face up towards him, still smiling. Her joy at his presence can scarce be contained. "But surely all these demonstrations can go on without our involvement, for a while."

"Perhaps! But I find that a failing I am happy to have, with you!"

He sighs happily and kisses her.

"For a good long while, I think, for I am certain that they will all while away the hours without much noticing our absence, now the festivities have started in truth."

"I am not so certain of that," she says, a little rueful. "My brother at least will mark our absence, and our flight through the kitchens will be known soon enough. But for a courting couple to disappear for a little while is no great matter in Rohan." She smiles. "Even if it is the king's own sister who vanishes, I hope. At the very least we will have time before they decide to seek us out."

Or so she hopes, and she intends to make the most of the opportunity, stepping closer into his embrace and kissing him thoroughly.

"Ah, but did I not see Queen Arwen engage him in conversation as we slipped out the door? No, I think we will have some time before anyone notices. I hope so, anyway!"

He manages, before she kisses him quite thoroughly, and he finds himself otherwise occupied.

Kissing Faramir is an occupation to keep her busy for a good long while, even in dim lighting while standing in an armory. But gradually the absurdity of the situation sinks in, and Eowyn finds herself laughing. She breaks away enough to smile up at him. "I am sorry I have not found a more comfortable place for us. Though my brother would say it is very like me, to tryst amongst weapons of war!"

Faramir is quite happy to continue on in this fashion for some time, but he laughs when she does, struck by the absurdity of it.

"I suppose we must allow at least one of our stereotypes some leeway, as the Rohirrim do not much go for large libraries to get lost amongst the books in as I might have done!"

"We do have a library," she informs him, taking his hand and leading him to a chair near the wall. "Small compared to those of Gondor, but well stocked with histories and songs. If you tire of my company on your visit you should be able to amuse yourself there for some days."

Her eyes twinkle at him, for she trusts--knows--that he will not tire of her company at all, however great a lover he is of books.

"Ah. But...is it big enough for two young lovers to ....get lost for a little while?"

He grins at her. "Together, obviously. Perhaps a quiet, private, hidden nook?"

She laughs and pushes him down onto the chair, sitting herself on his lap with a sigh of contentment. "I fear not," she admits ruefully. "True privacy will be hard to come by, unless we ride out to find it, and brave the cold winds. But I am resourceful, and know the halls better than any." She rests her forehead against his, smiling. "I am sure I can find a few places for us to lose ourselves, now and then."

"Oof" he pretends to protest with a laugh, but rather than push her off he pulls her closer, making a lie of his protest.

"And I doubt we will be allowed that much freedom." He agrees with her ruefully. "Not until all the formalities are done, in any case. Hopefully they will not take too long." Although treaties can, and that is at least half the reason why they are here.

He smiles and nudges up so he can kiss her.

"I will trust to my lady's better knowledge and discretion!"

She ceases conversation for a while in order to kiss him, languid, affectionate kisses of reacquaintance. She fits well on his lap, in his arms, which are tight around her. Once she might have found it an absurd position to be in, but she became fond of it. For one thing, they're of a height when seated thus, which makes activities such as this convenient.

After a time she sighs and breaks away, nuzzling her forehead against his. "After six months of waiting, I'm not sure I want to be discreet." She chuckles. "Except in that I would dislike being interrupted. But I am more than a little tempted to simply tell you which room is mine and invite you to come in through the window each night."

They would mostly behave themselves, if he did. Mostly. Most likely.

He laughs with her, breathless puffs of air against her skin.

"So long as I do not have to climb a tower to your window, as I fear I am quite likely to be spotted, if so!"

"No, mine is on the ground floor. It would be quite easy." She kisses him briefly. "And if someone does spot you and attempt to enter my room, I will throw the chamberpot at them as soon as they open the door."

"My stalwart defender! Even if it is your brother?" He laughs at the thought.

She smiles broadly at him. "Especially if it is my brother!" She kisses him again, though both are laughing.

"Then I am greatly relieved!" He has to stop kissing her for giggles.

"If the weather remains inclement, surely no one could fault us spending some time inside, where it's warm, after all!"

"And under the bedcovers," she agrees, trying to sound solemn and failing. "Lest we freeze. It would be most discourteous for me to let my guests be uncomfortable, after all." Her eyes shine with mirth.

"And snuggled together." He agrees with equal mirth. "To share body heat, of course. Especially if we went for an early ride and were chilled on our returning!"

"My lord!" she says in mock reproof, trying to hold back her laughter. "Are you trying to tempt this innocent maid of Rohan?"

He blinks at her in all innocence. "Tempt? Why no! I merely suggested a simple ride, and a possible solution. Perhaps the innocent maid is thinking not-so innocent thoughts?"

In answer she kisses him, a scorching, deep kiss that leaves no doubt about her deepest wishes, for all that they treat each other so lightly now. When it ends she is more than a little breathless, and presses her forehead to his. "This innocent maid is more than a little impatient to be wed to her beloved lord, and to be done with all this polite pagentry, so that she might show him exactly what sort of thoughts she has."

She is not the only one left breathless, and Faramir parts from her lips with great reluctance, removing his hands to more decorous areas than they wandered to.

"I eagerely await that day." He manages breathlessly. "And begin to think that we are going to have to avoid being in private locations, as I don't know how well I can resist this temptation!"

She chuckles, a low, wicked sound, such as she has rarely made. But then, she has never before had such provocation. "We would not be the first pair to anticipate the wedding night," she points out suggestively. "Though I would prefer a better and warmer location than this."
