"There is always tomorrow?" He offers.

"I know the morning will be occupied, and the afternoon likewise, but if the weather holds we might try and snatch some time for lunch. I do not think any would begrudge us that!"

He nuzzles back against her fondly.

"I would like to see an Ent." He muses. "Although perhaps not quite so close!"

She sighs. The morning will be taken with work, beginning to hammer out the legal details of their union; dowries and trade and the other things that accompany a marriage between two highly ranked individuals. They will both need to be present, and it will no doubt take days to complete.

In fact Eowyn does not need to be present. Traditionally, the bride is not involved in setting her own dowry, nor in the trade negotiations related to it. But she will not be bargained over and handed over to Gondor like a milch cow, even for Faramir.

"Lunch, certainly, though I fear we will find privacy as impossible then as now. But at least the afternoon will see a ride with your cousin Lothiriel." She chuckles a little, and runs a finger down his chin. "I believe she wishes to ensure that I am worthy of your regard. I trust I will not disappoint her."

Faramir is rather glad he hadn't had to insist she be there - Eomer, it turns out, knows better than to try and keep her away. But although the legal details must be done, for they are far too high profile for it to be any less - at least they will both know they have had their say.

He grins.

"I think you will have to work hard to do so! She rather admires you, you know - Lottie is independently minded, but she's never really had a chance to slip her leash, although uncle allows her to work in the Healing Houses, under the condition that she never ventures out of the city walls without escort. If she has managed to do so without anyone knowing, I will be impressed!"

"I look forward to knowing her better." She places her hand on his face, caressing his cheek. "But I would look forward more to time spent only with you. Would you come to my chambers, if invited?"

Truly, she is not certain. Nor is she entirely certain if she means the offer, which is a few steps past propriety, even for a betrothed couple of Rohan.

Faramir pauses, considering the implications.

"I... would not be opposed." He says shyly. "But if we are caught... I honestly don't think Aragorn would mind? But politically speaking..."

She laughs. "Politically speaking, I think my brother would know where to truly lay the blame," she admits, her pale skin flushed crimson. "And the idea is more than a little tempting. But I think any who missed you would quickly guess where to look." She smiles, caressing his face. "And you would look most foolish, if I had to suddenly hide you under my bed or behind the curtains. It is perhaps better that we not risk such folly. Unless we become truly desperate."

"The Queen would probably laugh." Faramir muses, "Aragorn too, quite possibly. But you are right, and we would probably be better served by being good. Sadly." He turns a little to kiss her hand.

"That, I did not agree to," she says, her mouth quirking a little with mischief as he kisses her hand. "Merely to finding less obvious places than my own bedchamber, or yours. Perhaps in a few days we might go for a ride by ourselves, and I will take care to bring extra blankets."

An undertaking still with some difficulty, as it is likely they would be expected to have an escort (such as she does not doubt they will have tomorrow, when they go riding with Lothiriel). But Eowyn trusts she can find a way.

Faramir laughs.

"In this weather, my lady? Although I suppose if we find ourselves a sheltered dale, and the snows hold off..."

But their guards, yes.

"Perhaps not if it is so cold as now," she admits, shivering a little, for the armory too is cold, with no lit fires and only their clothes and each other's body heat to protect them. That the metal arms and armor radiate the chill further does not help. "Truly we have timed all things ill in this venture!"

She looks a little sad, at that. Waiting another six months will be most difficult.

"Truly." He agrees, pulling her close as he sees her shiver.

"But equally so, I think I shall blame this also on Sauron, for his most inconvienient time of death, from which all other effects have flowed!"

He chafes her arms with his hands. "But perhaps we should seek warmer environs."

She shakes her head at once. "Not yet. Finding warmer environs means leaving your embrace, and I am most loath to do it." She rests her head on his, sighing. "We should have thought to bring some of the wine with us, to warm our blood a little. I confess I was in too great a hurry to think of it."

He pulls her close - technically to share their warmth, but he does not hide that he enjoys having her in his arms either.

"Wine, or some of that excellent spiced mead of yours - I hope you will share the recipe! But I should have considered it also, and I confess I was far too eager to find some time with you!"

"I certainly shall, and perhaps shall take to hiding bottles of it about the Meduseld, that we be not unprepared in the future!" She touches his face again, turns it towards hers for another kiss, glad that he was as eager and impatient as she.

This kiss turns more heated again, if not quite as desperately, distractedly so as the one that was interrupted earlier. Their breath steams a little, when they break apart enough to breathe. "I think," says Eowyn quietly, against his mouth, "that your visit will be one of sweet frustration, both cherished and maddening. I hope we may endure."

Faramir notes the steam and decides regretfully that they probably need to get indoors and by a fire again.

"I fear we will both be tested to the limits of our endurance, in this regard, but I think our time tonight is up - I can feel you shivering, Eowyn, and I cannot feel my toes!"

She would protest--she is no frail maid, to be deterred by a little cold!--but his comment on his toes is so absurd that it takes the sting out of the rest. "You should have brought warmer socks for your trip north, my lord," she chides, still not moving. Not yet. "We shall have to find you more fitting attire for our colder winters."

As if to prove she is not so easily driven off by a chill, she kisses him again.

"I'm sure I probably do - in my luggage!" He laughs at her and hugs her tightly.

"But come, before I develop frostbite. Let us seek the kitchens, and share a cup of mead."

She sighs with reluctance, holding him hard before she submits and stands off his lap. "Very well. To spare your cold feet, I will agree. But you are in my debt for another kiss later on, or more than one, when we can find a moment for it."

"My lady can have as many kisses of me as she pleases."

He promises her with a smile, taking her hand and heading back outside into the cold.

"For thou art the ruler of my heart, and may do as thou please with me."

"Then I must be careful, my lord," she murmurs as they furtively slip back outside, locking the door behind them. "Lest I abuse that trust and your heart, for truly I cherish them above all things."

A few more words and sweet kisses, and they make their way back inside, where they receive mugs of warm mead and many knowing glances to take back to the Great Hall with them. They remain side by side for the rest of the evening, and if it is not so intimate, still there is laughter and much conversation, with each other and others, and the evening passes well. If Éomer gives his sister a quizzical, half-suspicious look, he at least says nothing.

The morning is work, as they foretold, the slow beginning of a slow process of negotiation. It goes well, but drags on all the same. Luncheon too is a public meal, if smaller and more casual than yesterday's feasting. She sees much of Faramir, but little to talk to, and nothing in private.

There is a little time yet before her ride with Lothiriel, but Faramir is called away by his uncle before she can claim him. With as good grace as she can muster, Éowyn retreats. So she does not see him again until they meet in stables, where she readies their horses.

"I trust thee." Faramir smiles at her. "You may think yourself ungentle, but you have been nothing but, with this loving heart."

Aragorn laughs and Arwen winks at them both approvingly as they pass them, and Faramir blushes a little but holds his head up high. The negotiations the next day are boring, but necessary, and both of them are too well trained to their duty to shirk from it now.

He comes up behind her, and catches her around the waist, burying his head in her hair.

"What I would give for this process to be expedited!"

She starts a little as he sneaks up behind her, but recognizes him before more aggressive instincts can kick in. She relaxes into the embrace, reaching a hand back around his head. "A great deal," she agrees. "Save only that then your visit would end."

"True." He sighs and relaxes, now that she is here in his arms.

"Perhaps we will be able to steal a little time on this ride."

"With your cousin present, and all our guards, and who knows who else?" She turns her head and kisses his cheek. "I think not, alas."

And sure enough at that moment footsteps approach, the light quick steps of a hurrying maid, and Faramir barely has time to release his betrothed before Lothiriel joins them.

It is a good ride all the same, particularly after the necessary, tedious business of the morning. The day is cool but bright, the breeze gentle and from the west. More than once, Eowyn or Lothiriel between them seize the chance to gallop a while, from sheer trapped energy, and if Eowyn and Windfola can outrun all of them, they at least restrain themselves enough to not be impolite.

When not racing, the conversation varies. Lothiriel demands an account of how they met, which Faramir and Eowyn between them provide, neglecting some of the more private details. She demands too an account of Eowyn's fight with the Witch-King of Angmar, for it was a great victory and one the maid clearly admires. That, Eowyn refuses to give, demurring that the songs already being sung tell the story better than she may. But a shadow crosses her face as she says it, and she is grateful when Faramir, ever observant, is quick to change the subject to another, easier subject.

Despite herself Eowyn stays a little more quiet afterwards, though she smiles and stirs herself to further conversation. This girl will be her kin, after all, and her curiosity is born of innocence and good will. But Eowyn is not sorry when their ride comes to an end. Lothiriel thanks them both and promises to see them at dinner, and pulls Faramir aside for a private word as Eowyn excuses herself to tend to her horse. She takes more time than is perhaps needed at the task, refusing to leave it to the stablehands but instead brushing and grooming him at length.

"Sadly true..." Faramir murmurs, and then that is all they have time for.

Lothiriel is clearly much taken with Eowyn, who she clearly idolises - but she is very young still, in many ways. A sharp mind, but a young spirit, one whose family has clearly tried to protect, the baby of the family. She asks without understanding of what she might wake with her questions, all unknowing.

Faramir nudges her away when he sees that Eowyn's darker memories have been raised, and to Lothiriel's credit she takes the hint and turns the talk to bright chatter about Rohan instead.

(She is also quite taken with Rohan's King, in an entirely different fashion to the hero-worship she views Eowyn with. Faramir is not entirely certain if he should be worried, and if so, who he should be worried for. He's never learnt so much about Eomer's eyes before.)

When he finally escapes, he returns to the stables, hoping to catch another brief moment with his bethrothed, away from prying eyes.

"Eowyn?" He calls softly.
