They are not perfect at this; sometimes he loses the rhythm or the place and she groans her frustration, or she gets briefly distracted by some stray thought that seems to set her back in a way she cannot put into words. But it feels astonishing, intimate and wicked and at the same time strangely precious, a thing just for her and Faramir. A sort of tension begins to build and coil inside her, and she longs for it to release, longs for something she cannot describe, even had she breath to speak of it beyond gasps and half-phrases and his name, which are all she can manage, and those not coherently. She continues to cling to him, sometimes pressing a kiss to his face or neck, sometimes pressing her fingers into his back harder than she realizes. She loses all track of time, of place, of nearly everything save Faramir and what he's doing to her.

They're new at this, the both of them, trying things out that neither have done before. Female pleasure, Faramir is learning, is a little more complicated. But it's fascinating and beautiful to watch her come apart bit by bit in his arms, and Faramir returns her kisses and doesn't even really feel the bruising grip.

"Oh Eowyn." He murmurs endearments to her. "Beloved, oh my beloved. So beautiful you are. Come apart for me, beloved, let me see you?"

The sound of his voice grounds her, the words soothing and encouraging, coaxing pleasure from her along with his fingers. Strong, clever fingers...she writhes against them, whimpering with need, and taut as a bowstring.

And then it all crashes over her, and she comes undone with one short high-pitched cry, rapture running through her with a force that leaves her shaking. When it ends she has tears or relief and release in her eyes, and gasps for breath, clutching at him. With one hand she reaches down to still his fingers.

He removes them at her behest, curling around her, eyes alight with wonder and love.

"How lovely you are, Eowyn. Thank you for allowing me this."

She curls against him, still shuddering in the aftermath of her climax. Gradually her blood quiets in her veins, and her breathing calms. His soothing words help, and she lifts her head to kiss him, lingering and sweet. "I love thee."

"And I love thee." He kisses her gently. "You make me so happy, Eowyn. How did I ever know joy before thee?"

"Through other ways and means." She sighs a little, relaxed in his embrace now that the intensity is wearing off. She smiles at him, her expression open and sweet, and traces her fingers on his cheek. "Though it was not such as this is."

He grins shyly at her.

"No, not like this. I don't think I could find anything in my imagination as wonderful as you."

She kisses him again in lieu of an answer. Truthfully she is still not used to such lavish compliments, for all that Faramir is most free with them. She likes them, certainly, but does not always now how to respond. She is better at showing her heart than speaking it.

But they now have a new way of doing that, which is...wonderful, as he says. So she lies quiet in his arms, kissing him gently, drained and content.

She is warm in his arms and his body is pleasantly relaxed.

"I think," He says drowsily. "I am going to enjoy my ambassadorship. Quite a lot."

She chuckles throatily, and the sun is warm on them both. "I do not think this counts as one of your official duties, Ambassador."

"Are you sure?" His grin is pressed to her skin.

"I shall be quite sad if it is not."

"No," she says firmly, pulling him close. "For this is an entirely private duty, to me alone. Though I do expect you to take it seriously, and fulfill your obligations with diligence."

"Who am I to refuse my lady's wishes?" He lifts himself up enough to kiss her again, although the earlier passion is well sated for the moment and it remains gentle.

"I will do so with all keeness."

She too feels a lassitude, and is content for now to merely return his kiss, without hurrying or further need. So she still chuckles. "With all keenness, my lord? For it seems to me you took great persuasion to get to this point. Will you be more easily convinced to fulfill your duties, if we can be discreet, or are there to be many more long rides in our near future before you are convinced?"

"Well." He murmurs sleepily. "You raise a very good point. But I do enjoy long rides."

Éowyn chuckles wickedly. "Do you now? I will be sure to remember that, someday when we reach a later point in our...research."

Faramir huffs at her, but his eyes are laughing.

"I feel as if I should be alarmed, somehow!"

"You should, for I will hold you to your word, and woe betide you if you fail to live up to it!" But her eyes too are laughing, and she is teasing, and moves so she may kiss him. Both of them barely clad and embracing without restrained, in the open air...it seems almost a dream, to Eowyn.

"High standards you hold me to!" He says mock solemly. "Very well then, I will endeavour my very best to in all things please you."

While the days of Faramir's stay in Rohan pass all too quickly, and the days between their parting and his return pass even more slowly, still all those days do pass. In another half a year he returns, once again bringing with him high company. Aragorn comes to perform the ceremony, by mutual request of both parties, and he brings with him his wife and both her brothers. Some of the great lords of Gondor come also, those who call Faramir friend as well as Steward, and wish to celebrate his joy. Some come primarily to bear witness to a union that will further bind the ties between Gondor and Rohan.

Eowyn has put almost as much thought and planning into this, the last event she will organize as the Lady of Rohan, as she did into the days that contained her uncle's funeral, her brother's coronation, and the welcoming of the most esteemed and high guests the Meduseld had ever been privileged to hold.

It is a day of great joy for her, but not one unshadowed: leaving a home, even one with such troubled memories, is not an easy thing, and she greatly grieves that her uncle is not living to see her wedded and blissful.

Despite these shades she is radiant, shining in her bridal finery of Eorlingas green and gold, holding Faramir's hands tightly as they exchange their vows, as their hands are ceremoniously bound together with a golden rope shot through with silver, as the bards sing songs of Orome and Vana and their joy in one another. For all their honored company, for all the efforts she herself put into ensuring this day would go without a hitch, once he is before her she has eyes only for Faramir. All the rest of this she arranged less for herself or him, and more for their people, who given the high rank of the couple have their own personal interest in what would otherwise be a private matter.

But for herself...Eowyn holds his hands and stands before the Golden Hall filled to the brim with as many people as it can hold, but she is thinking of a day on a hilltop months before, lying with Faramir in the sunlight, under Eru's sky. In their hearts they are already wed, she knows, and that is why she smiles as she does.

It is a day long waited for, and long planned for also, but now that it is come Faramir can almost not believe it is real.

Eowyn stands before him, radiant as the sun, her hands and his fast together, their kin and lords and friends around them, and he feels as if his feet but barely touch the ground, so great is the joy in his heart that it must lift him up and away.

There is sadness, still, empty spaces where some of their dearest kin should have been (a father, a brother, a cousin, a king), but the drop of bitterness makes the joy all the more sweet.

(They might not have stood here together at all, under a free sky, and it makes Faramir want to grasp the moment all the tighter, knowing how easily it might have been lost)

He barely hears the words that are spoken, doesn't know if he stumbles through the vows and blessings. Everything narrows down to Eowyn before him, and the knowledge that none can now come between them. He kisses her there in the Halls of her Fathers, and does not apologise for stealing her away.

The congratulations come in a whirl of noise and color, joyful and bright, and far too much, for it keeps him from her, and he is grateful when Legolas and Gimli winking create a diversion so that he can grasp her hand and slip away to their marriage chambers finally. And there in the silence he can look at her, and find his breath taken away again.

"Oh Eowyn." He murmurs, and kisses her again, words taken from him in joy.

They should not leave the feast so early, but Eowyn is not at all unwilling to let Faramir steal her away when their friends arrange a distraction, and it is she who bars the door once they are inside. It is not likely that any, no matter how high-spirited (or raging drunk) will try to disturb them--but after so much time spent longing for this night, she takes no chances.

A night with Faramir, in his arms, uninterrupted. Every night from now on, for all their lives. That, Eowyn almost cannot believe to be real.

She begins to believe it when they are alone in their room and he looks at her as though she is the sun rising. A few more kisses like this one and perhaps it will all seem the truth that it is. "Faramir, my Faramir," she murmurs against his mouth, holding him close. She laughs just a little in astonishment. "Husband." The word has never before been imbued with so much wonder or amazement.

Let the nobles mutter - their kin and friends won't disturb them, he knows, and he would be grateful, had he mind for anything other than the vision in his arms.

"Wife." He answers, and his face lights up at the fact that he can call her so now, pulling her close and kissing her, unwilling to let her go.

"Oh Eowyn! Am I awake?"

She holds him just as close, arms wrapped around him, unwilling to separate by even a few inches now that they need not. "I trust so," she says, laughing a little. She raises a hand to his face, wondering at the unutterable joy she sees there, and that it is she who caused him to light up so. "Should I pinch you, to be certain?"
