"And I thee." He cups her cheek with one hand and kisses her again.

"Oh Eowyn! I never thought to know such bliss."

"Nor did I." She pulls back enough to look him in the eyes, stroking hair back from his face. A faintly impish smile returns. "And I am most pleased to finally have a chance to show you such without fear of interruption."

It's another interesting point about this hill: you can see for miles. Chances of being caught unawares are extremely unlikely.

"Oh, I see." Faramir raises an amused eyebrow at her.

"Ulterior motives, my lady?"

"Awareness of an opportunity," she corrects, still toying with his hair and face with idle, affectionate caresses. She smiles again, flushing just a little. "Though I would be lying if I said the thought had not occurred to me earlier."

He grins shyly and kisses her fingers as they pass his mouth.

"I would be very surprised if it had not. But..." He breathes deep and kisses her gently. "... do you wish to wed me, Eowyn, as the First Elves did, under the sky in Eru's name? Or are we just enjoying the time spent together?"

"Oh!" She flushes deeply, a maid covered in confusion. "I had not--I would--"

Unable to find words, she buries her head in his chest. Clearly, for all her spirited boldness, she has not thought things through quite so far as she has intimated.

He is beet red himself, and he chuckles a little breathlessly.

"I see you had not quite thought that far ahead." He kisses the crown of golden hair in his arms. "But I did not... wish to assume too much, or too little. And we are alone, after all."

"No, I had not," she admits, for it is easier to be swept up in the moment than to deliberately plan such a thing, for Éowyn. So far, at least. "Though the idea is...not without appeal. Especially as you put it." A different sort of wedding, one entirely private, entirely theirs...oh, that is an idea to leave her breathless with wonder.

"And yet..." She pulls away a little, looking up at him with wide, serious eyes. "You have ever followed my lead, in this," Eowyn says slowly. "You have shown both gentleness and restraint, and I love you all the more for it. But I do not know what it is you want, if you would prefer to--" She flushes a little again, and takes a breath. "To wait until we are wed proper, for all to see and know, or to have some more...more private celebration. Or even if you would prefer to have a mattress!"

She laughs a little with that last addition. Her hands are pressed to his chest, and she looks unusually vulnerable in this moment, much more her age. Not the bold shieldmaiden, but a young woman unsure of herself.

Faramir blushes deeper red still.

"I have, for I would not have any say that I acted out of turn. I... would not mind, obviously, for I love you dearly, and the wait chafes at me as much as at you. Your brother would be wroth, perhaps, but we need not speak of it to him, especially as we both know we will have to be wed before the eyes of our peoples at some point.

But I do confess a mattress would probably be more comfortable! Not necessary but... beneficial."

She is quiet for a moment, her eyes resting on his chest, watching it swell with his breath. "You have thought about it," she says slowly. "But it is only something you would not mind?"

For that is...disappointing, truthfully, and does not seem to match his claim that he is impatient. Much less that he is as impatient as she is.

"Well." He murmurs. "I would very much like, is probably more accurate. But I am trying to be mindful of both our positions. You do tend to make that very hard, Eowyn!"

That is better, but Eowyn still looks untowardly serious. "If you would rather I did not..." She trails off, then gathers herself and tries again.

"If you would rather I did not press you quite so much, then I will not." She flushes a little. "While I said before I had not thought that far ahead, it would be more accurate to say I had not planned so far, for I have certainly thought of it, and often. But I would not plan such without your knowledge and consent. I know I am...apt to get carried away, in the heat of the moment, far more than I ever thought I would during the months we were parted. But I can be restrained if it is needed, if you truly believe our positions and honor call for it."

She would not be happy about it, it is obvious, not when their time together is so short and has been so hard won. Half a year remains until they can be wed. But she likes the idea that she has pushed him more than he wishes even less, and the feeling that she does not know what he wants almost as little.

He considers that carefully.

"Tis not that I mind that you press." He says thoughtfully. "Indeed, it is a terribly nice boon to my ego that you think of me that way. Were we anything other than what we are, I would likely have bedded you already! I think you know how close my control has skirted at times. You are beautiful Eowyn, strong and wild and free. I feel forever lost when I look at you, and to see you look at me the way you do... it taxes my control sorely. But we are as we are, and people... talk. I do not wish that for you."

Eowyn relaxes further as she listens to this, reaches down to take his hand and kiss it lightly. But at the end of it she tosses her head, a little dismissive. "If we were in Gondor, perhaps that would matter; your people seem to care more for such things. We are more practical in the Riddermark. How can we not be, surrounded by horses as we are, and understanding the strength of such needs? And besides..."

She shrugs a little. "Besides, I think people will talk regardless of what we do or do not do, because we are as we are. It does not trouble me. Be troubled on your own behalf if you wish, but not mine, for I do not care what is said. But still I will try not to press you so hard as I have done, for I would rather you lie with me because you wish it as much as I do, and not because I have worn down all your defenses."

"Tis a refreshing attitude." He smiles at her shyly. "And I must confess, tis the most enjoyable wearing of defences that I have ever known! I do not know if I am ready yet, although I long for that day to come."

Her mouth quirks a little with amusement, and she tilts her face to look up at him fully. "So then, after all that talk, we should continue on exactly as we have been doing? For if so you will have to watch yourself, and not talk of wedding one another under the sky in Eru's name, lest you seduce me all unwitting with your poetry."

He grins, abashedly and shy.

"Forgive me, for I fear my tongue runs away with me in your presence, so truly do you enchant me! But I will... be good."

"And yet you have just done it again!" She laughs and wraps her arms around his neck as she kisses him, and this time it is light and chaste, nothing to be feared. "You are a silver-tongued flatterer, my lord, and far too able to turn my head with your sweet words. But know that for all my teasing and enthusiasm, in truth I do not know that I am ready yet either for..."

She leaves the sentence unfinished, blushing. "Well. You may be assured that when I am, I will tell you so directly, so you need not wonder. And then we shall see what we may see. But my only intention now was to enjoy your company. And, I will admit, your kisses, for I hope you will not deny me those."

"Have I?" He grins at her, wrapping his own arms around her in turn.

"I promise, I do not do it deliberately. Mostly. Maybe a little! And I would never deny you my kisses, and we can see how things play out."

Which he sets actions to words to kiss her softly.

She looks a little skeptical at this disavowal of intent, though she is willing enough to kiss him again, sweet and relieved. After a few minutes she breaks away, chuckling. "Though there are things we might do that do not go quite so far, and which would not get me with child." Her eyes twinkle at him, alight once more with mischief and amusement. "It might be as well if we were to determine where our boundaries were, to avoid misunderstanding."

He is mildly breathless when they do break apart, a condition he quite enjoys, and he smiles at her wryly.

"True! I think, I would not mind enjoying such activities either, myself. I would, I think, be quite willing to... mm. Please you, but no so far as potentially risking a child, as that would probably make Aragorn AND your brother kill me. Possibly Uncle Imrahil too."

"Would you now," she murmurs, her voice low and sultry as she looks up at him, her eyes lingering on his mouth. "And how would you please me, man of Gondor, were I to give you opportunity?"

He shivers at her tone of voice.

"Well. Um. I don't... have exeperience in such things beyond... er. Research in the library." He is totally not kidding about that by the way. "But I believe there are... um. Methods. Involving fingers. Or ... lips?"

He is so sweet.

She's delighted by the tremor that runs through him, physical evidence that she affects him. But that thought is almost immediately lost by what follows.

"Research...There are books of such matters?" She looks incredulous. Not that Faramir has researched the subject, for of course he would study anything of interest, but that the books exist to be studied at all. Her eyes widen with amazement. "Have they pictures?"

"There are." He is very red, by now.

"Not many but ... um there apparently was... a study made of such things. I do not know the author, for the text is quite old and well hidden."

He blinks. "Well yes...."
