He must lift her off the ground again to kiss her thus, but this time she makes no complaint. Their vows were made in clear, unwavering voices, but the unrestrained enthusiasm of the kiss speaks more eloquently of their choice than any words could.

"Let him have it, Sister! Give no quarter!"

Haleth chuckles a little against Caranthir's mouth as her twin shouts encouragement, which she does not need but is glad to hear. Firmly she wraps her arms around Caranthir's shoulders and kisses him in return.

Somewhere, Celegorm is wolf-whistling, and Maglor is undoubtedly already writing something sappy, but Caranthir doesn't care. Haleth is here, in his arms, and kissing him back in the sight of everyone they love.

"Get a room, you two!"

He shifts a little to support her while freeing one hand, where he casually raises his middle finger at the Ambarussa.

I'm assuming Elladan is teasing them as well, with Elohir not far off. ;) Twins everywhere!

The two voices shouting in unison make her break off laughing as even her brother's jest did not, and she laughs all the more at Caranthir's reaction, even as he captures her mouth in a kiss once more, one that bubbles over with mirth. Poor Caranthir, surrounded and outnumbered on all sides by various sets of twins, of all generations...though she cannot say he seems in the least troubled by it.

After another moment she does break away, enough to speak to him quietly, under the continuing roar of general approval. "Shall we enjoy the party, or take their advice?"

She has a firm grip on his shoulders, partly for affection but mostly for leverage; he is still holding her up with one arm around her waist, and there is a good foot or more of empty space beneath her dangling feet.

He is blushing red for reasons far different to embarassment, grinning up at her for the angle he has lifted her to sets her above him.

"That depends on how much you feel like bowing to proprietry, which would require us to at least stay for a little to accept congratulations."

Haleth shrugs a little. "I care little for propriety, but a great deal for those who have come to celebrate this. Let us walk among them for a time." She raises an eyebrow. "Assuming you will set me down once more, and do not intend to rest me on your shoulder like some exotic bird."

Even in her scarlet and gold finery, her hair wound in intricate braids decorated with beads and feathers, she is still Haleth: small and brown and blunt, and content to be so.

"Hm, would I get punched or kicked if I did?" He grins up at her again, but shifts to put her down. Haleth needs nothing to make her beautiful, but he does like it best when she walks beside him, hand in hand.

"I suppose I do like some of the well-wishers..." Most.

"Yes," she says, with emphasis. But he does put her down, saving himself from a boot to the head, and she does take his hand. They still look a little absurd when side by side, to her mind, with her so much shorter than he.

But this is their wedding day, and none here will judge them--and even if they did, Haleth would not care. Haldar is the first to run to congratulate them, throwing his arms around her exuberantly and murmuring something in her ear; Haleth laughs and shakes her head, miming a punch which he ducks to avoid, and then others come forth.

Through the hours of congratulations she never lets go of Caranthir's hand, even for a moment.

He rolls his eyes at his brothers' and cousins' teasing, snapping back with a little less of the growl than he might have before, flushing at the greetings of Haleth's family. He, too, never lets go.

"Enough already!" He growls at them eventually, with a smile.

"Us newlyweds want some privacy!"

"We do? I was not aware wedding you had given you the right to speak for me." Her eyebrow is raised and her voice chiding, but there is a smile still at the corner of her mouth. It is an amused reminder rather than a true chastisement.

He attempts to look properly chastened, but manages only to look somewhat smug.

"Very well, I will amend my statement that I would like some privacy, with you!"

She chuckles at his expression. "Then let us have it so."

And with that she simply turns and walks away, bringing him with her. Whenever any attempt to try and block their path or speak to them further she ducks under their arms or steps around them without acknowledgement, Caranthir in her wake. Let no one say Haleth is not direct.

Caranthir grins and follows her, shrugging at the good-natured protests with a sharp, smug smirk.

"The Chieftain of the Haladin has spoken! Shoo, you lot! You can harass us later! Or never!"

Haleth chuckles again under her breath. There is time for all things now, for teasing and congratulations, for enjoying company and for casting all aside. All is granted, all is healed, all may be enjoyed.

And there will be no further partings, not from kith and kin, and neither from this one whom she loves best of all.

When they have broken past all the ranks of people she breaks into a run, his hand still firmly held in hers. She looks over her shoulder at him, that slight but confident half-smile firm on her face, knowing he will follow.

Of course he follows, drawn after her without resistance, helplessnessly (and happily) enchanted.

"Where shall we go then?"

Her smile grows. "You will see!"

They run for some time, skirting the edge of a forest they both know well, until they are well away from the crowds and into a wilder area. With that initial exuberance and desire to be away from the crowd sated she ceases her run and walks--though quickly, for she must take two or three steps for every single pace of Caranthir's. Even so she looks up at him--not breathless, for they are both returned to youth and strength. "You planned our wedding, my heart's own--but it was left to me to plan for afterwards, and so I did. A private place I have made, where we may keep to ourselves for some while and enjoy one another in solitude."

Her pleasure in saying it is obvious. Solitude is a thing they rarely had, for always there were the Haladin and their needs, the possibility of interruption by either of their peoples, or by the needs of war. But now all their time is their own.

"Nice and peaceful, with none to interrupt us?" He grins at her, almost boyish. "Why, I am feeling most spoilt already!"

He reaches over to tug her close, able to be affectionate freely, with none to comment.

She stumbles a little as he pulls her into half an embrace, but is more than willing to wrap her arm around him in return, smiling up at him. "It is not luxurious," she says, without apology. "There was not time for that. But I thought you would value privacy above something more fine but less remote." As she will, she need not say.

He uses the fact that she is in his arms again as an excuse to kiss her.

"I need no luxury." He agrees. "I have enough of silk and furs! The privacy is far more enticing."

He must lift her up off the ground a little to kiss her thus, and this she allows, even if it means they stop talking for a few minutes. Such a kiss is worth some delay.

But only some, and before long she presses at his shoulders so he will put her back on her feet, still smiling. "Come, or we will not reach it before nightfall. And I had thought you were impatient."

It is not so far away, in truth; if they need to be found it is easily done, the more so as it is reachable on foot. But Haleth has made it very clear that they are not to be interfered with, and she is not one to cross. Not even for the formidable sons of Feanor who might wish to tease their brother. Perhaps especially not by them.

The forest gives way to a quiet river in an open glade, near the top of a hill, giving them a clear view of the East where the sun will rise. In the glade is a large tent, and if it is not luxurious by the standards of Valinor, still it is luxurious for a tent, and well supplied. They can remain for at least a week if not more. She has even brought some of Caranthir's own embroidery materials, and her own cooking utensils, as well as bows and arrows for hunting game.

Of more immediate importance, the flap is open and shows that inside is a bedroll more than large enough for two, piled high underneath with enough rushes and furs to guarantee neither of them will feel it a hardship to sleep without a proper bed.

Haleth looks more than a little smug. They could have waited longer for their wedding, and given a year she might have built them a proper house, such as she eventually built for herself in the forest of Brethil. But what for? This has all they need and all they want. She looks up to see Caranthir's reaction not for approval so much as confirmation.

"Can I not be impatient for your kisses, also?" He teases, but obliginly sets her back down again.

His brothers are many things, but none are fool enough to mess with Haleth, he is sure. Himself, they are used to. But there are too many formidable females in the family for them not to be wary of Haleth.

He stops just inside to look around and his eyes are soft, when he spots the familiar shapes of her old tent long ago.

"It looks just like I remember." He murmurs, and then turns back to her with a wicked grin. "Although much more comfortable. Now, I belive it is customary to carry the bride over the threshold?"

The Haladin stopped living in tents once they found a more permanent settlement, but the memory this one summons is pleasing to them both. Haleth gives him a skeptical look. "We have no such custom. Is it so among your people? What a strange idea. What is the purpose of it? Or is this merely an excuse to put your arms around me once more?"

He grins at her.

"And what if it is just an excuse?"

Her smile is warm and affectionate. "You need none."

He laughs and swings her up into his arms, walking her across the threshold and kissing her.

"Well, if it isn't a tradition, I shall make it one!"

She wraps her arms around his neck as he lifts her, kissing him most willingly. It is easier from this position than others, that is certain, for suddenly the height difference between them is negated. "Over every threshhold?" she asks after a moment. "Is this to be a tradition for all new-wed couples, or for us entering a house? That might become inconvenient."
