"We will see if you still think so in a few months, when I am twice this size!" She rubs her nose against his playfully. "Perhaps then you will be less easily distracted from your purpose. And floating is much the same as swimming but with less movement, so I think your argument a foolish one."

"You will always be lovely - and I don't just say that because you carry my child!"

He tilts his head and kisses her nose, one hand curving fondly over the curve of her belly.

"You will always be my favourite distraction."

Her gaze softens a little, and she kisses him once more. "I thank you for your certainty, on both those counts." Her hand reaches to covers his where it rests on the swell of her abdomen. "Though I think it possible our child may distract you even more than I, once it is here. I look forward to seeing."

"This is true - a possibility worth considering! But even so, I find it difficult to believe any could take your place."

He smiles at her.

"Not my place." She smiles, an expression confident and even serene, running a finger along his mouth. "I know none could do that, for I alone am your wife and helpmeet, as you are my husband, and that will not change. But a child is an eclipse, or so I am told. Or perhaps an earthquake, to leave all things shifted in its arrival." She chuckles a little. "And you will not need to spend time warning me not to touch hot irons or avoid deep water, as we will him!"

"A very small earthquake, I hope!"

He grins at her.

"But tis true, there will be none to replace you. Of course we are hoping for more than one eventually so perhaps a series of earthquakes!"

"He does not feel small at present!" she says ruefully, laughing a little, one of her hands returning to stroke along her swelling belly. "And I think he will feel less small as he grows! But we are getting distracted again."

From swimming, or floating, or other activities that might be done in water.

"No." He agrees fondly. "But he is growing swiftly! And I suppose we are, indeed." He nibbles her neck.

"What does my lady propose?"

Her breath catches audibly; his mouth is warmer even than the rest of him, a marked contrast to the cold water. "I had intended to suggest swimming...but you seem to have other ideas?" She does not intend it to be a question, but her breath catches again as his teeth graze oversensitive skin.

"I can hardly help it, for I am but a man, and my wife is currently floating happily in my arms."

His laugh is pressed in kisses along her neck.

"However, if tis swimming my lady desires..." He starts to pull away, teasing.

She grabs him at once, pulling him back in for a heated kiss. "I have other desires now, for which you are entirely to blame," she says with mock-reproach against his mouth.

"I am glad you find my arguments so convincing, in that case!"

He laughs against her mouth, hands skimming teasingly along her sides.

"We can always swim afterwards, I am sure."

They are crouched lower in the water now, and it is easy for her to lift herself up as she did before, to wrap her legs around his waist. This time she moves against him most blatantly, teasing at what they both want. "If we have any energy left for it, after."

He groans as she does, eyes fluttering, even as he moves to support her a little better.

"You do tend to wear me out." He manages breathlessly.

"It was you who chose to wed a wild barbarian from the North." She nibbles lightly at his ear, shifting her weight as he holds her. "You could have chosen some less exacting wife."

"But I would not have anywhere near as much fun, if so."

He reasons, head tilting as she nibbles, one hand moving enough to teasingly pinch the bottom she has so kindly put in easy reach.

Is he wearing anything, btw? She's just got a shift on, nothing else.

She chuckles her agreement, her mouth more pleasantly occupied than with words. Her kisses and grazing of teeth are interrupted by a slight mmph! when he pinches her, and she pulls back to look at him with reproach, eyebrow raised. Her long hair is damp, and clings to her face and shoulders, and her skin is flushed from sunshine and exercise--and other things.

He chuckles at the indignation of that look and the pinch turns into a gentle caress.

"Oops." he says, and sounds thoroughly unrepentant.

Not for long, he doesn't.

"'Oops'?" she repeats, eyebrow raised. Clearly this is not considered a sufficient response. Though it is equally clear she is not truly annoyed, given how her eyes shine.

He grins at her.

"My hand slipped?"

Her mouth twitches a little as she holds back laughter, more at the grin than the excuse. There being more than one way to extract vengeance, she leans close, her face a little above his--and reaches behind him to run her nails up his spine. Not hard enough to mark him, but definitely hard enough to be felt.

He gasps as she does.

"Cheat!" He accuses, kissing her.

The kiss is thorough and occupies her for a minute. "Did you not begin it?" she asks, more than a little breathless.

"Perhaps I did." He agrees, smiling as he pulls back a little.

"But you continued it, yes?"

"I did," she confirms, her eyes twinkling. "As you must have known I would, for when have I ever refused thee?"

Never, they both know, so she kisses him again, wrapping her legs around him more firmly.
