He's breathless and gasping, nuzzling against her.

"I never knew that such happiness as this existed before I was wed to thee."

"No more did I." She kisses his head again, still caressing him with gentle hands and sighing in quiet contentment. "But with you all things are possible, min heorte."

He sags against her, warm and sated, content, before he chuckles.

"I just realised, we are going to have to take full advantage of times like these, for I suspect when the babe is born we will be rather otherwise occupied!"

She too chuckles. "That, I think, is an understatement. We have made good use of today, I would say." Just a faint innuendo in the word, and she shifts under him in a way that brings to mind the activities they have just finished, smirking. "Are you wishful of more such days over the next few months, if we can be spared from our duties?"

He smacks her hip playfully.

"Stop that! You might be insatiable, my wife, but I need a bit more rest, as yet!"

He kisses her softly. "I would certainty not be adverse! I suppose we shall have to see what duties we can rearrange, for we might as well being thinking about that now."

She yelps at the thwack, then laughs, embracing him once more. "I but tease you, my dearest lord. In truth I too am spent, at least for now." She returns the kiss, still smiling. "Though I would enjoy more time with you, if we can find it. Before the child is born and all things change. Though we need not think of how to make it so right this instant!"

While tangled and joined on the forest floor; not the best time and place to reorder their lives.

"Oh good." He grins and snuggles against her.

"Not right this moment, true." He laughs softly. "Besides, we're supposed to be resting, yes?"

"Mm..." She sighs contentedly, kissing his cheek and drawing her fingers along his spine. The sun dapples on both of them, and his body is warm wherever it lies across hers. "I do not intend to do anything right at this moment, save to enjoy it."

"Oh good." He says drowsily. "For I am suddenly quite drowsy and feel like a nap. I don't suppose anyone will miss us for another hour..."

"You should probably dress a little first, love." She strokes at his back and shoulders. "Or find a blanket, at the least." There is one nearby, next to the picnic basket. They came prepared for many possibilities.

"mph" Faramir mumbles sleepily into her shoulder. "Blanket. Right." He reaches over and tries to grab it without moving.

Eowyn laughs and stretches, which dislodges his somewhat, but she can reach the blanket and cover them both. She lets him settle back against her and lies there, looking up at the sunlight between the leaves as she plays with his hair, while he lies pillowed on her shoulder. "And I thought it was I who was supposed to need more rest, given my condition," she murmurs quietly, amused.

He grumbles at her half-heartedly but subsides swiftly.

"You quite wear me out, my Shieldmaiden!"

"It was your idea." She kisses his forehead. "Not that I mind. That, or this." Her voice is low and soothing, and from the way she caresses his hair, his falling asleep on her is entirely welcome. Appropriate, even, as she did the same to him last night.

"Mm, I should have good ideas like this more often, then." He says with drowsy content, nuzzling against her as he drops off.

A month later, on the anniversary of the day Faramir stood next to Éowyn on a wall high above Minas Tirith and asked if she did not live him, finds Faramir having kept his promise: a precious few days' holiday on their own. There is another month yet before they travel to Edoras, and Faramir has had to work all the harder to earn this respite, but for this moment they may enjoy themselves to the hilt.

Éowyn is over three months pregnant by now, and it has not been easy. The nausea is finally easing a little, but she has lost some weight because of it, and been much fatigued and irritable--not least because of the frustration at her body being so out of her own control. But things are easing, and the healers claim the next few months will continue to be easier, so she has tried to take heart.

And at this moment she is standing in a lake, clad only in a shift, waiting for Faramir to join her. The white shift clings to her form, and very clearly shows the new swell of her belly where the babe grows. "Are you not joining me?" she calls, teasing. "For this water is cold, and I had thought I had a husband to keep me warm."

They have both been busy, for the life of their fief does not stop for their leisure. This time has been planned for as best they can, and eagerly anticipated, and Faramir takes the time to admire his wife.

"I am enjoying the view!" He calls back with a laugh, setting out the last of the picnic and removing his own tunic.

"Enjoy it from closer by, I pray you!" she calls back, splashing a little in his direction (to no effect, as he is not yet even in the water). She watches with open affection and pleasure as he disrobes. Two years of marriage has not dimmed her enthusiasm for his body even slightly.

"Impatient!" He laughs and sloshes in to join her, catching her to kiss her.

"But there, I am here."

"How could I be otherwise, with such reward to look forward to?" She laughs, flinging wet arms around him and returning the kiss with enthusiasm. She hikes up one of her legs around his also, under the water, enjoying the playfulness of it.

He kisses back with equal enthusiasm, wrapping his arms around her, if a little awkwardly, now.

"Are you trying to drag me under, wife?" He protests the leg laughing as he wobbles.

Her eyes go wide. "Of course not," she demurs, twining her arms around his neck. "For if I were..."

And at that she hikes herself up, climbing him and wrapping legs around his waist so he is forced to hold her in place, unless her manuever unbalances them both and lands them in the water. "You would know!"

"Eowyn!" He yelps, laughing and wobbling as he balances her, flailing as he struggles to keep his balance.

"You scoundrel." He accuses fondly and kisses her.

Not for the first time, Eowyn is glad her husband is strong. Holding her up is no difficult feat for him, even preoccupied as they soon both are. For of course she returns his kiss in earnest, her tongue darting against his, loosening her grip around his neck to run wet fingers through his still-dry hair. She is more than a little damp, and her wet shift clings to her skin.

She can feel his interest stirring, pressed close against him as she is, and his laughter rumbles in his chest, pressed against hers.

"You are truly insatiable, my wife." He tells her in between kisses.

Alas, I think we're coming to the end of this one too. The holiday they mention, or baby time?
