That Freudian slip, Crow
Date: 2019-10-16 12:56 am (UTC)However, he does vaguely takes note of Crowley's sudden change in attitude, and means to ask, before the waiter does come back with the angel's starter, and Aziraphale's attention is (maybe thankfully) pulled away from the demon's embarrassment.
With a polite thank you to the waiter and an interested glance at the food, he gets back on track in the conversation. "Like I was saying - we can go anytime. No point in waiting."
... Is that too much? Is it too forward, is it too-- fast?
He has no idea what you're talking about, and oh look, a distraction.
Date: 2019-10-17 03:42 pm (UTC)"Tomorrow morning?" he offers. "Could go right now, but there's this meal to finish. And it's dark. Not that that's a problem, just, you'll probably want to see the scenery. Once we're up there and there's scenery worth looking at." He pretends to reconsider, that smile turning into more of a smirk. "Then again maybe we should start off after dessert after all, London's not much to look at by daylight anyway."
Crowley, in contrast, does not give a blessing if he looks overeager or forward. He's both, always has been. And for the first time since the '70s, it seems that's...okay.
Expecting a distraction for the angel to show up in a restaurant is just easy mode
Date: 2019-10-19 01:57 am (UTC)But, then, another part reminds him of how every reason he's done that in the past is now void. How his fears and anxieties are more akin to echos of past situations, rather than something he should be concerning himself with right now. And while the echoes are still a thing that is, a thing that exists and should probably be dealt with at some point, they're really not as bad as the actual thing and originated them.
Which is all to say: yes, it is okay. He's still finding his footing in this strange new place. But it is okay.
"Oh." Said with a smile and a vaguely surprised tone. "I-- I do suppose." That they can leave after dinner, he means. He does quite like London, at any point of the day. But, scenery, yes. Lots of it. All over the place. He's sure.
What's your point? Crowley cheats a lot.
Date: 2019-10-22 12:22 pm (UTC)Vague was definitely the word for that answer. In fact it doesn't really qualify as an answer.
I'm just saying he's a CASUAL
Date: 2019-10-22 10:04 pm (UTC)His nerves shouldn't be mistaken for uncertainty. Excitement sometimes just has a funny way of showing itself. But this time, at least, it comes with a smile.
You say this like he should be offended and he just isn't. ;)
Date: 2019-10-22 10:36 pm (UTC)It's not teasing. It might be admiring, or maybe just happy. It's possible Crowley's never looked this happy before. It's possible he's never been this happy before.
He doesn't stop to analyze it, just leans back, wineglass in hand. "Anytime you like, angel. Anyplace, too. Got a particular area in mind or shall we tour the country at our leisure? I insist we stop by Loch Ness, though."
Crowley was originally responsible for the rumors of the monster in the lake, of course. He likes to stop by every few centuries when he's in the area to rile them up again.
he is unstoppable.......
Date: 2019-10-22 10:50 pm (UTC)But that smile, Crowley's smile - it could outshine the sun, for all Aziraphale thinks.
Those things, though, are a bit too big to focus on during a conversation and planning. So he tries to focus, taking a bite of his food and pausing to think.
He touches his napkin to his lips. "I do think we should take our time." Which is to say, a lot of it. A lot of time, just the two of them. "There's a few spots I'd like to revisit, but there's no need to rush." Ironically enough.
Half of winning is arranging things in your favour in advance. That's not cheating, it's planning.
Date: 2019-10-22 11:33 pm (UTC)There's time, for talking over all those things, for talking of new things, and for driving around Scotland not necessarily talking about anything at all. All the time in the world, and with the person Crowley most wants to spend time with.
Yeah, it's no wonder he's smiling the way he is, and he doesn't give a blessing who sees it.
"Sounds good to me." His mouth quirks in what can only be called find amusement. "For you, angel, I'll even go the speed limit. Mostly."
well dude played the LONGEST game
Date: 2019-10-22 11:45 pm (UTC)Six thousand years, and it was all meant to end. Six thousand years and they're here.
His expression turns more towards fond amusement as he picks at his food. "Well. Lucky me." And he takes a bite, giving the demon a great bright smile.
HE SURE DID. Do you want to continue this, jump ahead, or pick up some other time in another meme?
Date: 2019-10-23 09:43 pm (UTC)Maybe jumping ahead while they're travelling!
Date: 2019-10-23 11:18 pm (UTC)"Getting cheeky, you are." Which is, of course, totally not flirting.
Yay!
Date: 2019-10-28 02:30 pm (UTC)Which most definitely is flirting.

Date: 2019-11-01 02:20 am (UTC)"I've always found you to be rather harmless, my dear." And he takes another delicate bite, just to emphasize his point.
La la la finding really old threads

Date: 2020-04-28 12:39 pm (UTC)Crowley casually steals another forkful of food from the angel's plate, chewing it while still looking at him with eyebrow raised high. "Do you really want to taunt the demon who'll be driving you to Scotland?" he points out. "Really? Might regret that. All sorts of mischief I could get up to en route."

Date: 2020-04-28 12:50 pm (UTC)There's a muted smirk as Crowley so devilishly steals another bite, as if he might say something about it. But he doesn't.
"Oh?" That look and tone might imply a bit of daring, this time. "Such as?"

Date: 2020-04-28 03:25 pm (UTC)Something flickers in his eyes just a little at that, some shadow of doubt. Because for all that he's joking, there's a little truth in it. Aziraphale could change his mind. Satan knows this is more than they've ever dared before, and even if the reasons why Aziraphale's always balked at doing things openly in the past are astonishingly no long relevant, even if they've hinted at certain things never before confessed...
He puts the glass back down on the table a little too hard and tries to find something to say to cover up the moment. "Take back all my promises about speed limits, at the very least," he says. "Play bebop the whole way. Go cross-country and terrorize the sheep."

Date: 2020-04-28 03:40 pm (UTC)Of course he could change his mind. He could do a lot of things, just as much as he could find himself haunted by the echoes of rules and risks past. There's still so much to work through. But, right this moment, he's too busy trying to outwit the demon to worry about that, clearly.
The angel scoffs; at what suggestion, is unclear. "Not if I have any say in it." His tone is still amused, light, playful even
